Advance readers

Read it before anybody else

I am looking for forty people to read the book before it comes out. Social workers, students, foster carers, and people who just like a novel.

How it works

  1. You write to me.
  2. If there is a copy for you, I send you the book as an ebook, free, about a week before the launch.
  3. You read it.
  4. If you want to, you say what you thought of it, somewhere other readers can see: Amazon, Goodreads, your own page.

The rules, which matter

  • The copy is free whatever you do next. You do not have to review it, and nothing depends on it.
  • Say what you honestly think. If you did not like it, say that. A page of five-star reviews that all sound the same helps nobody.
  • Say you were given the book. One line is enough: “I received a free advance copy.” Amazon asks for this, and so do I.
  • If you know me, sit this one out. Amazon does not allow reviews from an author’s family or close friends.

Put your name down

Write to maisie@secretsocialworker.com with “Advance reader” in the subject line.

Tell me in a line which of these is closest: a social worker, a student or newly qualified, a foster carer or adopter, somebody who works with children in another job, somebody who writes about books, or somebody who just likes reading. And tell me how you read ebooks.

Your email is kept until three months after publication, so that the book can be sent to you, and then deleted. How it is used.

There are forty copies. If more people ask than that, I will choose a mix of readers, and write to everybody either way.
